Academic Policies |
|
Jinnah Medical and Dental College is committed to providing a congenial and
conducive environment that is essential for the overall growth and development
of its students. JMDC aims to promote learning that, in addition to knowledge
and skills, will provide graduates with a wider vision. We earnestly hope that
the students and their parents support the College in maintaining its desired
standards. It is expected that students will adhere to the policies and abide by
the rules and regulations of the College.
Students are to assume personal responsibility for the honesty and integrity of
all activities, including respect for policies, programs, faculty and staff.
Students are expected to observe generally accepted standards of conduct. JMDC
reserves the rights to take action against students indulging in activities that
are injurious to the interest of the College, faculty or others. |
|
Students are required to perform academic activities that promote professional
leadership. Any evidence of academic dishonesty such as copying the work of
another or offering unauthorized assistance to another student may lead to
expulsion from JMDC. |
|
A counselor coordinated through the Student Affairs Office will counsel any
student who fails to make satisfactory progress. If progress is still not
satisfactory after counseling, the parents will be contacted and will be asked
to withdraw the student. The Disciplinary Committee will make decisions
regarding any actions to be taken for unsatisfactory performance or behavior of
any student. The student may request the Appeals Committee (Principal, Registrar and
Chairman of the Board of Governors) to review any decision. |
|
Any student requiring advice on academic or personal matters should seek the
help of the Vice Principal, Student Affairs. Students will be assigned a faculty
advisor who will monitor their academic progress. Students are required to meet
with their faculty advisor at least once a term, but may meet more often as
necessary. Matters discussed between students and counselors are considered
confidential. |
|
Student Affairs Department |
This department coordinates the student's daily schedules and deals with all
administrative matters pertaining to students including admissions, enrollment,
attendance, examination records, and discipline. Counseling services are
available as required by the students for both academic and personal matters.
This office provides a liaison between the students, teachers, parents and
faculty/administration. |
|
Educational Process |
Students are encouraged to utilize their learning abilities to the maximum.
Apart from traditional didactic modes of teaching, interactive lectures and
participatory small groups discussions are held with a tutor acting as
facilitator and providing maximal opportunities for students to express
themselves. This 'learner centered' approach encourages student to seek
knowledge not only from textbooks, but also journals and other learning
resources. Problem-based community oriented learning methodology is used in
clinical teaching, make learning more relevant and contextual. |
|
